Tom Yum Goong Is Clearly The Signature Soup Dish In Thailand...


 

Tom Yum Goong is a clear with distinct spicy soup that is popular around the world.

This popular dish is seasoned with a mixture of the special soup paste, chillies, lime, fish sauce. The broth is simmered with lemongrass, shallot and galangal giving it the distinct spiciness and sourness blend of fragrant herbs.

The fragrant and aromatic flavor is brought out with the fusion of Thai Herbs like the galangal, lemongrass, kaffir lime leaves, lime and chillies. Once you have tried this soup, you know you will be yearning for more...

The Number 1 Thai Recipe:

From The Thai Kitchen:

* Chopping Board
* Cleaver
* Ladle
* Saucepan

Thai Ingredients:

* 9 large prawns in the shell
* 2 litres of water
* 80g tamarind pulp
* 1 can straw mushrooms

* Ingredients (A):

* 2 tbs Tom Yum paste
* 1 tbs nam prik pao (Thai chili jam)

Seasoning Ingredients:

* 3 tbs fish sauce
* 1 tbs light soy sauce

Fresh Herbs:

* 25g fresh galangal
* 1 lemongrass
* 2 kaffir lime leaves
* 2 chillies

For Garnishing:

* 1 spring onion
* 2 coriander
* 2 kaffir lime leaves
* 1-2 chillies

Method:

1. Mix the tamarind pulp with the water in a bowl to extract the flavor of the tamarind

2. Sieve the tamarind water and bring to boil

3. Lower heat to simmering and add "Fresh Herbs"

4. Continue to simmer for a further 30 minutes

5. Add Ingredients (A) and the Seasoning Ingredients

6. Add straw mushrooms and prawns

7. Continue cooking until prawns are cooked

8. Turn heat off and taste for flavor

8. Serve and garnish with kaffir lime leaves, spring onions, coriander and chillies (more?)

You can add lemon or lime juice if you prefer a more sourish finish
