The theme is Thai Night!
Members have to bring a dish (or two) using recipes that reflect what Thailand is all about - especially where the tastes and flavor of the 4 "s" of sweetness, saltiness, sourness and spiciness is of the right blending. It was fun to see everyone putting on their thinking hat to come up with a dish.
To add to the fun that we normally have, we were going to pretend to be part of "Masterchef" and "My Kitchen Rules" (- 2 very popular cooking TV shows in Melbourne) combined with the way we taste and rate each dish.
It was my turn to be the hosting member so I cooked three dishes that blended in with the theme of the night - Basil Minced Chicken, Larb Nur Sod or Minced Beef Salad and Pa Lo or Braised Belly Pork.
Meng tried not one but two recipes from this website with great success - Gaeng Dang Gai or Red Chicken Curry and Masaman Beef. She said she was determined to follow the recipes to a tee and by jolly, what a result!
Chee Wah cooked a Thai Prawn Curry dish - delicious and finger licking good as the prawns are cooked in their shell keeping the tastes and flavors in.
Joyce, our dessert queen, decided to use one of Thailand's favorite fruit to make the most popular and deliciously yummy Durian Cake.
By the way we all tucked into the dishes, I would say that all the dishes were deliciously yummy and amazingly scrumptious!
So, did our members step up to this Thai Night challenge?
You bet your sweet life they did. In fact they have excelled ... All I can say is ... Well done guys!
